    Why don't you guys make a subwoofer tower with 3 drivers? That way one could buy a pair and essentially have a six pack. Macintosh has made one, so can you.

    Sounds heavenly. I never see any pictures of the driver though, not even from the reviewers.

    So in theory i can add 4 subwoofers to the surround s and rear surrounds by tapping the high level to each speakers. Then run them as a full range speakers? 7 subs sounds like a good idea. I love rel product

    • @RELAcoustics
      @RELAcoustics 4 дні тому

      Three subwoofers is the minimum number to form a true REL-3D system, though some customers will use an individual subwoofer assigned to each main speaker channel. Meaning in a 5.1 surround system they would use five High Level connected subwoofers, or in a 7.2 surround system they would use seven High Level connected subwoofers. It's up to you how far you want to expand your system past the first three units (front left and right, center, and rear left and right).

  • @danil34
    @danil34 5 днів тому

    So just to make it clear. The front 3 subs are high level and the back 2 subs are LFE correct?

    • @jglaserbot
      @jglaserbot 4 дні тому

      Rel had said main left and right were high level and LFE, center ch was high level only and surrounds were high level and LFE. This video is now saying you can also use the HT series along with the other subs. Generally if I’m designing a room I’ll shoot Rel an email for clarification.

    • @RELAcoustics
      @RELAcoustics 4 дні тому

      Thank you for reaching out. In a full REL-3D system, the front left and right channel sub(s) and the rear channel sub(s) are typically connected using both the High Level input and the .1/LFE input, while the center channel sub is usually only connected using it's High Level input. However, you could always make adjustments to this format based on your own system's needs and the specific subwoofer models that you're running. For more information, feel free to write in to contactus@rel.net and we will be happy to assist.

    Chose 2 channel over Home Theater Run two amps, mains w 4 Aperions Increase SPL is good enough for cinema

    • @dicmccoy
      @dicmccoy 5 днів тому

      ☝️ This. Phantom center is also miles better. Having more channels introduces channel crosstalk and a higher noise floor within the components. A good 2 channel system trumps. Get everything sorted and you'll have a crazy holographic presentation. Home Theater is a waste of money imo.

    • @ryangonyer9498

      How do you have your Aperions set up? One in each corner? Thanks

    • @totalplonker824
      @totalplonker824 2 дні тому

      @dicmccoy "having more channels introduces a higher noise floor" From someone who's changed his cables multiple times for this ready reason, I would have to agree that unshielded cables may indeed heighten the noise floor. However, there are solutions to address a heightened noise floor. Even though I'm running a 5.2.4 in a small livingroom when pressing pause (or mute), there are occasions I'm actually unable to differentiate whether the system is on or if it's actually switched off. Shielded cables are the answer! And just so you know, the better the shielding the quieter, the room. If one is hoping to notice the incremental differences, I would suggest addressing the analogue cables of length first before moving on to digital power cables, etc. Silence is Golden.

    I understand the concept of Rel 3D but every time I try to get a home theater store to design something they scoff at me and say Rel 3D doesn’t work because it’s the processors job to bass manage and that placement of subs is more science of room acoustics than simply placing subs in corners or next to speakers and using different sizes and models of subs also creates more issues from level matching, time alignment etc

    • @O8532732
      @O8532732 5 днів тому

      I too, love aspiring the concept of REL 3D, but I feel like I somewhat agree with those dealer points of view. I just don't understand all the ppl who ignore time alignment and insist that they're getting the purest musical presentation that is possible... I absolutely LOVE my 1003mkii, but if I disable my AVR's time-and-phase-shift alignment, it basically just sounds like any other 'black box that makes bass'.. ANY system can sound like a hot mess if it's set up poorly, and IMO time & phase alignment between subs and mains plays a HUGE ROLE in the results.. That said, any "purist" that declares there is only one "right" way to do this stuff has probably lost the plot entirely.. Being aware of ALL of the options possible has helped me learn how to confront integration problems whenever a specific recipe doesn't work.

    • @jglaserbot
      @jglaserbot 5 днів тому

      The big issue is proof of concept. While we have seen tons of Home Theaters here and other platforms we haven’t seen any videos actually showing a Rel 3D setup. I can recall one where a Rel rep set up a basic Rel 3D for Shane of Spare Change and I just got the impression Shane thought it was interesting but didn’t really seem to be much interested in it beyond that and hasn’t really talked about it since. So perhaps Rel should actually design and film a working Rel 3D theater and have Mr. Hunter discussing it.

    • @jglaserbot
      @jglaserbot 3 дні тому

      @@jameschambers2053 which one are you using on your center ch? I had an ideal of trying to utilize all Rel HT series subs to create the Rel 3D. I already have two HT1510s up front and I know JH discussed using the Airship to add high level to them but then to add Airships to the center and the rears plus you need one each for the two 1510s so a minimum of 4 and now that they raised the price of the Airship to $400 makes it very expensive and probably not very practical. So will probably save and get a pair of 212/SX of Carbon Specials for my mains, S/510 for center and move my 1510s to the rear.

    Firm believer with S510x2 (LR + LFE), T7i (C) and a R218 (Surrounds). Discussed this for years with others on AVS/Reddit and it just doesn't register with most people to at least try it and become a believer in this sort of set up.

    • @jake46467
      @jake46467 5 днів тому

      I couldn’t agree more. I started by adding a dedicated sub to my center channel and fell in love with it. I’ve since added dedicated subs to each of my 5 bed layer channels in addition to 3 REL HTs for LFE duty. The sense of scale that the individual channel subs add is incredible; the bubble description is spot on. It’s funny - when I go to an actual movie theater these days the audio presentation comes across as very thin after experiencing what I have at home. Once the 3D bug bites you there is no going back.

      Thank you for reaching out. Our recommendation to place REL subwoofers in corners does apply to down-firing models such as the Stempede and Strata V, and is especially helpful with these models to help with reinforcing their output and projecting that output into the room.

    hi, I'm going to buy upcoming Classic 99 , I want to use it with both home cinema, and stereo. I have a question. Is it possible to connect it simultaneously to both high level input comming from my stereo tube amp, and to my Marantz Cinema 60 LFE output permamently without chnging any cables on dayly basis? Or is it maybe better to go wireless on a stere side, for example from one of my Rose RS-150B streamer outputs through your transmitter (not sure which model)? Which sollution would be beneficial from audiophile point of view?

    • @RELAcoustics
      @RELAcoustics 13 днів тому

      Thank you for reaching out. The Classic 99 is designed so that you can connect to both it's High Level input and the .1/LFE input at the same time, meaning that you can connect High Level to your stereo tube amplifier and simultaneously connect using the .1/LFE input to the sub-out on your Marantz Cinema 60. Each of these input channels have their own independent Level control so that they can be tuned separately, and it will not be necessary to disconnect or reconnect any cables when switching between these two applications.

    I have a Rel S/510 and a Rotel RA-1592 amplifier and when connecting the High Level to the REL, all I hear is a buzz, no music. It is as if there is a short circuit. I connect the red wire to the right + terminal, yellow to the left + terminal, black to ground. What could be the reason that the connection is not working? Through the RCA cable to the LFE it works normally.

Using a Parasound Halo Integrated Amp. I ultimately wish to get a REL stereo pair. I want to start with (1) sub first and am unsure if the Classic 99 or S510 is better suited for the Harbeths? Can I use room correction with Rel subwoofer connected to bookshelf speaker via speakon to spks posts on amplifier and what would be the effect of it?

    • @RELAcoustics
      @RELAcoustics 16 днів тому

      Thank you for reaching out. In most cases, when using room correction software we recommend temporarily disconnecting the High Level cables from your amplifier, or temporarily powering off the subwoofers, while the program runs. Then once the room correction has finished you can reconnect or power on the subwoofers and adjust their rear-panel tuning controls by-ear to achieve the desired blend. In most cases having subwoofers connected High Level while running room correction software will result in odd frequency response issues.

    what would pair best with my vintage Spendor S100 speakers...also what is better, doing rel hooking to amp outputs versus a sub that i could send the preamp strait to a subwoofer with rca inputs that could do the low pass filter in the sub then rca's line out to my amp...that way for 2 channel the sub would do the low pass filter, kind of what an AVR could do with low pass filter...

    I'm a first time REL subwoofer owner and a very happy REL subwoofer owner. I was a bit sceptical that a subwoofer could be integrated into a Hi Fi system. I had subwoofers in my home theatre set up and believed that subwoofers were for home theatre. Being in Australia we don't have many local UA-cam reviewer's on subwoofers. I came across a UA-cam video by the founder of PS Audio Paul McGowan. In the video he talked about adding a subwoofer to your Hi Fi system and mentioned and had high praises of REL subwoofers. I did a lot of research and purchased a REL Classic 98 subwoofer. My main speakers are Krix Neuphonix MK1 which are a highly reputable brand for music and home theatre speakers made here in Australia. When I hooked up the subwoofer and integrated into my Hi Fi, boy did a have the WOW moment and now I'm a believer. I have fallen in love with my vinyl again and can't believe what a difference the REL Classic 98 has made. And thanks to Paul McGowan's video I have discovered REL.

    Hello , I've just changed my speakers over to some Dali menuet se I'm now finally able to use the high level connection (my previous speakers being active) I can't really put the gain and crossover any higher than 6 to 7 without it becoming too much , yet my previous system in the same room the gain and crossover could quite easily go to 18 clicks and more , does this sound right to you? The Dali menuet se are less capable in the bass department compared to my previous speakers piega 301 active so in theory shouldn't they require a higher crossover on the rel tx 7? Thank you

    If I’m going to use Marantz amp10 with bi-amping the two front speakers, would that make any difference if connecting high level cable? The wiring itself doesn’t change on the amplifier end (red and yellow to L+ from sub1 and to R+ from sub2). The only thing is on the marant there is a selector for normal, bi-amp and btl). So would having it on bi-amp mode affect the wiring for the rels?

      Thank you for reaching out. If you are bi-amping your main loudspeakers with the Marantz Amp10 then the wiring of each REL's High Level cable will remain the same, except that we recommend connecting the High Level cable to the outputs on the amplifier which are feeding the low-frequency drivers for your main loudspeakers.

Some of our larger subwoofer models are capable of reaching well below 20Hz, though at this time none of our subwoofer models are designed to produce linear output down to 12Hz. 12Hz is well below the human hearing range, and with our subwoofer designs we have chosen to instead focus on producing sub-bass output that is as fast and responsive as possible to blend seamlessly with a system's main loudspeakers, rather than focusing primarily on this deep of low-frequency extension.

    John, i love that you brought out White HT's. I wished there was more contrast. Love the black driver against the white cabinet. Not a fan of the white grille. I wonder what a black grille would have looked like? And maybe black feet instead of the gray? The top should stay white though. I think those 2 small things could make it "chef's kiss" from an aesthetics point of view.

    Don't you short out the amplify if you're running both channels and connected to one terminal both wireless are touching

    • @RELAcoustics
      @RELAcoustics Місяць тому

      Thank you for reaching out. When connecting using the High Level input there will be no wires making contact with more than one amplifier terminal at a time. One wire will connect directly to one positive binding post, a second wire to the other positive binding post, and a third wire connected to a ground point. As a result, as long as you practice a normal amount of caution then there will be no risk of shorting your amplifier by using the High Level input connection.

    All the How To videos helped in setting up my REL Acoustics T/Zero MKIII Subwoofer. I was able to hear the difference and do the tuning at each stage. Apartment living prevents me from going with a bigger sub for a fuller sound. With the tuning I am quite happy with the Kef Q550 speakers and the Rel I have. Thanks for all the videos.

    Hello everyone! Maybe someone connected it to KLIPSH the nine? As I understand it, it is possible to connect only at a low level... While I don't really like the sound, the paints disappear and something in the middle...

      Thank you for reaching out. The T/9x Red can pair very well with your Klipsch "The Nine" speakers, and since these are active speaker with a built-in amplifier it will be best to connect the REL using it's Low Level input to the RCA subwoofer output jack on the speakers.

    Hey there John, im so glad i found this Video. It makes perfect sense now! I just bought my T/7X (my very first Sub) and as i'm a music producer i just have one small Amp (Bryston 2B) and as i use Amphion One 18 Speakers, i dont listen really loud (therefore also my choice of the T7X). As i was confused on how to connect the Sub i wrote to Thomann the Music store before and the told me i should connect my Amp to the Sub and then Back to the Speakers, which is not possible with the T*X Subs so i was really confused how to do it. I thought i need to buy another Amp and connect this to the Sub but then how do i connect the out to the Sub and the AMP, Y-Split cable ?? etc etc but this Video man, the solution is so simple and easy that i would never thought of this. So thanks again you saved my day (and the money for another Amp :)

      Thank you for supporting REL, and we are glad that this video helped to answer your questions about connecting the High Level cable for the T/7x! As the video shows, both the High Level cable for your T/7x and your main speaker wire will be connected together to the output terminals on your system's main power amplifier.

    I've been running both high-level and .1 LFE's on my stereo pair of T5i's, and after disconnecting the high-level connections to do some .1 LFE speaker levelling, I realised only one of the subwoofers was working! Which told me both subwoofer inputs are probably running parallel, meaning that both running the same way. Even though my arcam avr20 apparently is able to do four independent subwoofer outputs, however that's with dirac live bass management! Perhaps when finances become available the Rel 3D HT will be for the near future. Therefore in the meantime I was wondering would be beneficial for my particular 5.2.4 setup to implement a Y-Splitter ? Any advice would be appreciated! Cheers

    • @RELAcoustics
      @RELAcoustics Місяць тому

      Thank you for reaching out. If you have found that one of the subwoofer outputs on you AVR is not functioning correctly, then you could use an RCA y-cable so that both of your T/5is receive signal from the same functional subwoofer output on the receiver.

    I have exactly the opposite problem from the one described in this video: I'm getting a pair of AirPulse A300 Pro powered monitors (by Edifier) in about six weeks, and I'm super-excited about them but they don't reach down *quite* far enough, so I need a REL. But I live in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where the default construction technique is poured concrete, and my listening room is only 270cm across the front by about 470cm deep, with neighbors cozily proximate. Seems to me the T5/x might be ... almost ... too much?
